The Domaine Philippe Girard is located in Verdigny, one of the most renowned wine village of Sancerre. At the time of the French Revolution in 1789, wine was grown on the estate, but only consumed by the family itself, or allocated to really good friends. Today’s generation owns 16 acres of Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir. Located along the banks of the river Loire, to the east of Bourges, the Sancerre vineyard stretches over 2,770 hectares. Clay and limestone or siliceous-clayey soils. Vines: 5 to 25 years – Yield: 60Hl/Ha. Pneumatic pressing. After a must racking of 12 to 24 hours, the must is placed into a fermentation tank where it will ferment at a temperature of 18 degrees C. Pneumatic pressing. On lees in stainless steel vats. Ageing on lees during 4 months. Pale yellow color. First nose with hints of yellow fruits and flintiness. Notes of peach, yellow fruits, white flowers, with pleasant mineral and citrus fruits aromas.
