Laurent Perrachon Chenas 3 Mozaic 2022, Julienas, Beaujolais, France

“We are the fifth (Martine and Laurent) and sixth (Maxime and Adrien) generation of Perrachon, on the La Bottière Estate since 1877. The earliest traces of the family in the wine trade date 1601. We pursue the work of our ancestors producing wines the traditional way. Julienas history already mentionned the PERRACHON name in 1601. The Perrachon family acquired the domain of la Bottière, in Juliénas, in 1877. Then came the Domaine des Perelles on the Romanèche-Thorins territory, at the feet of the Moulin-à-Vent hills. The Domaine des Mouilles, now the heart of our operations, was acquired in 1989. Chenas – This small appellation was once covered with oaks (chênes) hence its name. Our parcel, called “En Champagne” is one of the most desirable in Chénas, with a good southern exposure, on sandy soil. It is one of the first we harvest as it matures quickly. The wines from this area present complex aromas of ripe black fruits, with floral and woody notes. Varietal: Gamay pruned short in gobelet. Average age of the vines: 70 years. Soil type: granite and sand. Tasting notes: Ruby-red in color, with tints of garnet. This wine is full bodied with floral, woody notes and a velvety texture. Winemaker’s notes: Manual picking, complete grapes. Penumatic press. Semi carbonic maceration for 12-14 days. Vinified in traditional vats. Estate bottled.
