Trentadue has a long tradition of making some of the best Zins in California dating back to 1969. The grapes for this wine were selected from the best head pruned vies mostly from Block 303 in the Estate Geyserville Ranch. All Zin blocks in 2021 were harvested in early October with very balanced ripening with ‘normal’ sugar and acidity due to the long and relatively cool ripening season. About 10% of the grapes were fermented in small ½ ton open top fermenters for additional complexity of aromas and textures. This is a classic Alexander Valley Zin with deep dark cherry and plum aromas, exuberant blackberry and pepper. The aging for 12 months in the finest European oak barrels enhances the aroma with toasty oak, chocolate and vanilla.
