Powers Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve 2018, Sheridan Vineyard, Yakima Valley, Washington

2018 vintage -100% Cabernet Sauvignon. 100% Sheridan Vineyard. Sheridan Vineyard is located in the heart of the Yakima Valley AVA. “We are continually impressed with the quality of fruit from this site, especially the Old Block from which this Reserve Cabernet is selected. We harvested the fruit in mid-October with PDM yeast used in our pump-under fermenter with the wine completing 100% malolactic fermentation in French oak barrels. This wine was then aged for 28 months in 40% new French Oak barrels with the rest in neutral French oak. Tasting notes: Complex aromatics of dried cherries, plum, and mocha with a hint of garden herbs and butterscotch. The palate has layered flavors of plum, raspberry tartlet and chocolate cherry cordial with a nice touch of baking spices that completes the concentrated but delicate mouthfeel. It is this nice balance of fine and complex tannins alongside a bright fruit intensity with a nice touch of minerality, oak, and a sturdy backbone of acidity that are the characteristics we love about Sheridan Vineyard.
