Domaine Usseglio is a family farm, dating back to 1948 when grandfather, Francis Usseglio, left Italy to work in Châteauneuf-du-Pape as a wine worker. Today the Domaine covers 39 hectares, 24 hectares of red Châteauneuf-du-Pape, 1 hectare of white Châteauneuf-du-Pape, 6 hectares of red Lirac, 6 hectares of Côtes-du-Rhône and 2 hectares of Vin de France. Half of the vines are over 65 years old, the other half is in their forties. Yields: low. Harvest: Manual. Sorting: Selective. This wine is 50% Grenache Blanc and 50% Clairette. The grapes are harvested manually early in the morning freshness, the harvest is whole and pressed on arrival at the cellar. Fermentation is followed by thermoregulation between 13 and 15 degrees, it lasts from 20 to 30 days. The wines remain in stainless steel vats and barrels (2 to 3 wines) for part of the production over a period of 12 months. The wine has fresh aromas, white fruit peach vine, white flower. The freshness is present, the mouth is fresh and elegant. It has buttery and toasted notes, with a pleasant balance.
