Chateau l’Oiseliniere de la Ramee Muscadet Sevre et Maine Sur Lie 2019, France

The 10 hectare vineyard of Chateau l’Oiseliniere is uniquely situated facing South on a dome-shaped hill overhanging the bank of the River Sevre and at the confluence of the Sevre and the Maine. This wine is made from the secondary juice of Le Clos de Chateau l’Oiseliniere. Le Clos is a single vineyard of 60 year old Muscadet vines on schist soils. Bernard Chereau (who currently manages his family’s property) is passionate about the location of his vines and separating individual parcels within each site. In addition, he keeps multiple vintages on hand because he believes that different vintages show different characteristics that are specific to the wines. Aged in concrete tanks on the lees for 6 months before bottling. Tasting Notes The color is a very pale yellow. There are very small bubbles, called “Perlant,” that come from the Sur Lie vinification process. Citrus aromas of grapefruits and lemon skin on the nose. The wine is very fresh in mouth with bitter and citrus tones, well balanced with white flower and exotic fruit at the end.
