Chateau La Nerthe Chateauneuf-du-Pape Blanc 2021, France

Chateau La Nerthe produces eminent red and white wines from the Chateauneuf du Pape appellation. Chateau La Nerthe has historical fame for its production of white wines, reputed for their fresh, sleek, mineral style with floral fragrances. The personality of this wine is achieved by blending 4 grape varieties : Grenache blanc, Roussanne, Clairette and Bourboulenc. The crop is harvested at optimum maturity to capture the natural tension and the singular, mineral expression of the grape varieties. Blending: Grenache Blanc 40 %, Roussanne 34 %, Clairette 20 %, Bourboulenc 6 %. Terroir: Loamy sandy soils dotted with large pebbles for finesse and aromatic expression. The presence near one of the few natural spring of the Chateauneuf du Pape designation as well as secular woods creates microclimate, warm in the day but cool at night, which allows to obtain white wines with strong personality. Tasting notes: Pale lemon yellow color. Aromas of stone fruit (peach, apricot) and white flowers on the nose. On the palate, a nice complexity, notes of citrus (lime), exotic fruit (pineapple, mango) with a good balance between acidity and flesh. Aging is elegant and well integrated, the finish is expressive on lingering, zesty and mineral notes.
