Vina Robles Estate Viognier 2022, Huerhuero Vineyard, Paso Robles, California

Family-owned, Vina Robles is progressing to second-generation generation ownership with Founder Hans Nef’s two daughters: Michèle König-Nef and Nicole Nüesch-Nef, at the helm. Vina Robles is the result of a unique personal trajectory, one that led founder Hans Nef from a rural village outside Zurich, Switzerland to the rugged terrain of California’s Central Coast. Viognier is planted at the highest point in our estate Huerhuero Vineyard and benefits from the cooling Pacific breezes that blow through the Templeton Gap in the afternoon. The fruit was handpicked in mid-September during the cool night-time temperatures. Upon harvest, the fruit was gently pressed and the juice was cold settled, racked, and then cold fermented in stainless steel tanks with a selected yeast strain to complement the expressive varietal fruit. The wine was further cold aged sur lie in small stainless steel tanks until bottling to enhance mouthfeel and preserve freshness. Tasting notes: Color: Light golden straw. Aroma: Peach and mango with hints of mandarin orange and ginger. Taste: Medium-bodied with peach, citrus and spice, moderate acidity with some minerality leading to a quenching finish. 100% Viognier.
