“Poggio al Tufo” estate, owned by the Tommasi family since 1997, comprises 66 hectares in Pitigliano and 80 hextares in Scansano, in the heart of “Maremma Toscana” zone located in southwestern Tuscany. Rompicollo vineyard has southern exposure, volcanic soil rich in “tufo” (tuff) and is densely planted (6500 vines/hectare) for maximum fruit quality. 100% Cabernet Sauvignon. 10 days fermentation in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks; 12 months maturation in Slavonian oaks 65Hl. Intense bouquet of dark fruit, spices and licorice. Well balanced with good structure, nice length, and fruity flavors. Tasting notes: Deep ruby red in color, it has a broad, complex nose with aromas of blackberry preserve, black pepper, licorice, vanilla and balsamic herbs. On the palate it is mouth-filling, rich and full-bodied, with velvety tannins that are nicely integrated with a pleasing sensation of freshness.
