Muga Selección Especial 2019, DOCa Rioja, Spain

Grapes: Tempranillo, Garnacha, Mazuelo and Graciano. Geology and Soil: Terraces of tertiary clay-calcareous soil. Vinification: Fermentation with indigenous yeast in oak vats. Aged for 26 months in casks made from oak specially selected from their own cooperage. Before bottling the wine is fined with fresh egg whites. Once bottled, it will undergo a process of rounding off in the bottle for 18 months in the cellars. Tasting Notes: Muga Selección Especial 2019 has a high layer and a cherry red color. On the nose it has a very high intensity where notes of ripe fruit appear with blackberry and blackberry complemented by spicy aromas of vanilla and cloves in the background that provides a lot of complexity. On the palate it has a marked and well-integrated acidity, with a very polished tannin and medium body. Very silky and elegant, where notes of ripe fruit reappear with touches of very well integrated wood. Very long and balanced. A reserve that, thanks to its good acidity and balanced tannins, suggests a great capacity for ageing.
