Iron Horse Wedding Cuvée Sparkling Wine 2018, Green Valley of Russian River Valley, Sonoma County, California

This is Iron Horse’s Blanc de Noirs, made from predominantly Pinot Noir. It has a beautiful rosé color. Rich and creamy, like pure strawberries and cream, this is without doubt the most romantic of their Sparklings. 2018 vintage – 81% Pinot Noir, 19% Chardonnay. Aged 3+ years. From the Winery – “In blending this wine, we choose Pinot Noir lots that are extremely expressive and fruit forward. Then we blend in a bit of steely Chardonnay to add a firm acid backbone. Hand-harvested in the chill of early morning, our Pinot Noir is gently pressed as whole clusters. The juice slowly ferments in stainless steel tanks at 62 degrees to 65 degrees F retaining bright fruit aromas and flavors in the wine.” Appellation: Green Valley of Russian River Valley, which represents the very best soil, climate and aspects for Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Pale salmon in color with lively bubbles and a pure mousse. The 2018 Wedding Cuvée has great rasp berry aromas, followed by strawberry and a touch of lemon zest. Very delicious red fruit flavors on the front palate that extend to the mid palate, followed by a burst of red apple and creaminess leading to a grapefruit finish with amazing texture throughout.
