Forman Cabernet Sauvignon 2019, Napa Valley, California

Forman Vineyard is celebrating 40 years of crafting exceptional Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay. In his 60 plus years of winemaking, Proprietor Ric Forman, has become a pioneer in the Napa Valley and beyond with his influence in winemaking and viticulture. Ric remains vigilant in personally making sure that each step is without compromise in the pursuit of producing the finest quality from the Estate. Consisting of 11 acres, the vineyards are divided into three parcels, each one planted to the four Bordeaux varieties, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Petit Verdot. A three-million-year-old riverbed is host to the largest vineyard comprised of gravel/sand deposits. Directly above the winery the steeply sloped plot is composed of more dense and larger volcanic rock, so much so that extensive dynamite explosions were needed for rock shattering to facilitate planting. Tasting notes: Right from the get-go excitement is created. The purity of color in a wafting rich complex of aromas entice and compel one to take the first taste. Such a plush nose is very inviting. Up front the Forman identity of spice, cedar and violet perfume is so evident. All of the four varieties seem to be screaming for recognition and indeed they get it in this one. Mouth filling flavors create a very pleasing, exiting, and powerful impression. This is pretty dense stuff but with delicious complexity as well. The balance of fruit, wood and bouquet is incredible. This is like a young athlete ready to perform, it’s very alive and will win many races as it develops. A keeper they say.
