Domaine Pierre Usseglio L’Unique Blanc 2021, Vin de France

Domaine Usseglio is a family farm, dating back to 1948 when grandfather, Francis Usseglio, left Italy to work in Chateauneuf-du-Pape as a wine worker. Today the Domaine covers 39 hectares, 24 hectares of red Châteauneuf-du-Pape, 1 hectare of white Chateauneuf-du-Pape, 6 hectares of red Lirac, 6 hectares of Cotes-du-Rhone and 2 hectares of Vin de France. Half of the vines are over 65 years old, the other half is in their forties. Yields: low. Harvest: Manual. Sorting: Selective. This wine is 50% White Clairette, 50% Vermentino. Vinification, ageing: First year of harvest for our Vin de France The only white wine that is made in a traditional way. The grapes are harvested by hand followed by direct pressing. Fermentation is followed by thermo-regulation and lasts 15 to 20 days. The wines are aged in stainless steel vats over a period of 6 months and then bottled. Tasting: Vivacity, elegance and balance are the words that characterize our Vin de France L’unique blanc. The nose is marked by citrus fruits and the freshness of the fruit. The palate combines aromatic intensity, length and a beautiful liveliness. A hot but not scorching summer followed by a few rainy episodes, gives us a perfect balance in this wine.
