Domaine Glinavos Vlahiko 2020, Zitsa, Greece

Lefteris Glinavos founded the estate in 1978 when he returned from Bordeaux studying oenology. He now owns 20 hectares and works with indigenous varieties, Vlahiko included. This is a energetic red with red currants, cassis, herbs, and a hint of granite minerality. Firm, woody structure and rich weight, this wine is great with any pork dishes. High elevation gives the wine crunchy acidity. This wine hails from one of the coolest regions in Greece: the tiny town of Zitsa. Small and mountainous with a climate more continental than mediterranean, this region is a surprise in more ways than one. The grape used here is called Vlahiko, an indigenous varietal. Crunchy cranberries and woody spice are abundant in this wine. Bright acidity makes this wine a lovely addition to your table. Put a little chill on it and enjoy it on your terrace with burgers.
