Chateau D’Aqueria Tavel Rose 2023, France

Château d’Aqueria’s sandy soils are perfect for producing great rosés with exceptional balance between freshness and maturity. Its complexity comes from a blend of six varieties of red and white grapes. Grenache Noir, Syrah and Mourvèdre give exceptional color and tannic structure whilst Clairette, Bourboulenc and Cinsault complete the blend beautifully bringing a generous variety of aromas and a fresh finish. Soils: Light sandy, clay soils situated around the Château. Grape varieties: 50% Grenache Noir, 20% Syrah, 10% Clairette, 10% Mourvèdre, 5% Bourboulenc, 5% Cinsault. Average age of vines: 40 years old with some 70 year old plots. Ageing: 6 months in inox and concrete vats. Vinification: The grapes are meticulously destemmed and cooled before vatting. Then they are blended in pairs during 12-24 hours maceration to enhance the aromatic complexity. Once the perfect color is obtained, the vat is bled and the pomace undergoes a slow pressing before being incorporated with the free-run juice. Following that, fermentation takes place in thermoregulated vats for 15 days. Tasting notes: Intense ruby color wit shiny hints. Nose: Complex and elegant with spicy, fruity notes (raspberries, strawberries, pomegranate). Mouth: Elegant and firm structure with expressive fruit and spice. Long finish with remarkable freshness bringing a lovely balance to the wine.
