Turley Wine Cellars makes thirty-four wines, the vast majority of which are single vineyard designate Zinfandels and Petite Syrahs. By focusing on old vine vineyards in particular, Turley aims to both create and preserve Californias unique winemaking culture. All vineyards are certified organic by California Certified Organic Farmers or somewhere in the process. Farming: Steacy Ranch was one of the first vineyards planted on St. George rootstock in Lodi, which has since become the gold standard for Zinfandel in California. Hailing from 1907, the Zinfandel vines in this sandy-soiled vineyard are interspersed with Grenache, Carignane, and Mission varieties as well, all common bedfellows in these classic old California vineyards. Winemaking: Farmed organically and made using only natural yeasts. It sees 80% used oak, 20% new; 80% French, 20% American (the only new barrels used are French).
