Shafer Cabernet Sauvignon One Point Five 2021, 375ml, Stags Leap District, Napa Valley, California

One Point Five takes its name from the term ‘a generation and a half,’ coined by John and Doug Shafer to describe their long father-and-son partnership. Since 1983 this family team has worked together to manage their Stags Leap District winery. Vineyard location: Predominately from two Stags Leap District sites – Shafer’s hillside estate vineyard and “Borderline” vineyard located about two miles south of the winery. “The 2021 One Point Five is distinguished by lush, intense aromas and flavors of black cherry, crème de cassis, black plum right from the tree, lavender, and savory herbs. This classic Cabernet Sauvignon displays equal measures of richness and balance while the wine’s seamlessly integrated tannins offer the kind of structure that promises decades of beauty to come. Varietal composition: 94% Cabernet Sauvignon, 3% Petite Verdot, 2% Merlot, 1% Malbec. The long, sunny 2021 summer created idyllic growing season. The fruit developed rich color with clean, elegant, and pure aromas and flavors. Cooperage: 20 months in 100% new French oak barrels.
