San Felice Bell’Aja Bolgheri DOC Rosso 2021, Italy

Forty years have passed since the purchase of the Campogiovanni wine estate in Montalcino, and now San Felice has extended its interest to another world-class winegrowing area: Bolgheri. Consistent with its philosophy of making wine exclusively from estate-grown grapes, San Felice located 6 hectares of vineyards near Le Sondraie area. The vines, averaging 5 years old and planted in the silt-sand soils classic to the zone, amount to 2 hectares of Cabernet Sauvignon and 4 hectares of Merlot. Following an 18-day fermentation and maceration, this wine matures 12 months in French oak barrels. 60% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon. Purple in appearance, it exhibits a bouquet redolent of wild berry preserves, lifted by smooth notes of spice. On the palate, it is beautifully balanced and delicious, with supple, velvety tannins.
