2021 vintage – 88% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Petit Verdot, 4% Cabernet Franc. From vineyards in St. Helena, Calistoga, Oakville, Stags Leap District, and Atlas Peak AVAs. The grapes were carefully destemmed and optically sorted to ensure only perfect fruit made it into the wine. A cold soak extracted color and flavor before a combination of tank and barrel fermentation was used to provide a richer, more textured palate. The wine was gently basket-pressed before being racked to French oak barrels for malolactic fermentation and aging. Aged 16 months in 75% new French oak. Tasting notes: The nose is marked by interwoven, intense aromas of red currant, mint, and warm pie crust. These continue to the palate where they support concentrated flavors of blackberry and cases. A densely structured mid palate is framed by balanced acidity and ends with exceptional length.
