Materra-Cunat Cabernet Sauvignon Hidden Block 2018, Napa Valley, California

The 2018 vintage of the Hidden Block Cabernet is deep garnet in color and has bright and inviting aromatics with notes of fresh blackberry, sage, and cedar. A mix of red and black fruits come across more in the flavor than the nose. The lively acidity balances the depth and power nicely. Varietal: 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Petit Verdot, 8% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc. Oak aging: 50% new French oak for 21 months. The Cunat family is involved in the winery operations on a daily basis. Brian and Miki’s youngest daughter has been instrumental in the designs of the product labels and collateral materials. Brian’s brother, John, and the extended Cunat family continue to be supportive investors in Cunat Family Vineyards as well as active brand advocates. Each Materra wine is a perfect expression of the land, the grapes, the passion the Cunat family has invested in each bottle and the unyielding quality delivered consistently by the growing conditions and terroir of the Napa Valley. Materra (a rough translation of Mother Earth in Latin) is not only the name of the wine but also represents the family’s commitment to finding the best soils, climates and water, nurturing these
elements and embracing and enhancing Mother Earth’s gifts to produce some of the highest quality grapes and wines from the Oak Knoll district in Napa Valley.
