Matchbook The Arsonist Red Blend 2020, California

2020 vintage: 51% Petit Verdot, 24% Malbec, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon. Petit Verdot is the backbone of The Arsonist Red Blend. This thick-skinned grape yields concentrated, tannic wines with lots of color. Aged properly, Petit Verdot rounds out to develop rich, thick, full-structured wines. Cabernet Sauvignon is the grace note of the vintage that shows up in the sweet fruit and the varietal undertones of plum and leather. The deeply hued Malbec contributes inky color and flavors of dark fruit and chocolate to the blend. Blended and aged 24 months in a combination of French, American and European/American hybrid barrels, approximately 30% of which were new. Winemaker’s notes: The aromatics are an expansive mix of plum fig and deep earth. The blend of three powerhouse reds delivers full flavors of black cherry, chocolate, cranberry and truffles.
