Picpoul is a varietal that originated in southern France, and is often used as a component in blends versus bottled as a single varietal. The Picpoul de Pinet terroir is the largest white wine producing region in Coteaux du Languedoc. It consists of a triangle bounded by Agde, Pezenas and Sete : a limestone plateau basking in the rising sun covered in highly perfumed garrigue, rows of vines, and scattered pine groves. The grapes grow in loose bunches, are oval shaped and come off easily. Vinification: Skin maceration for a few hours, pneumatic draining and pressing, double cold decanting, temperature controlled fermentation. 100% Picpoul, which is known in other parts of Europe as Folle Blanche.
