Hill Family Estate Chardonnay, Carly’s Cuvée 2022, Napa Valley, California

Carly’s Cuvée was made from a selection of Chardonnay vineyards. Made in a partial-malolactic style, with only light oak influence, this lovely multi- layered Chardonnay will please people looking for a wine that enhances food and holds its own out on the patio. Carly Hill is the daughter of Doug and Darci Hill, and her contributions to Hill Family Estate are honored with this beautiful wine. Recently married, she is now working as a nutritionist in San Diego, and helps with the family business. 2021 vintage – 95% Chardonnay, 4% Semillon, 1% Sauvignon Blanc. Elevation: Mostly rolling hills and hillside. Aged 8 months in French oak barrels. The 2021 Carly’s Cuvee is made from a selection of Chardonnay vineyards that Doug Hill has close connections with or manages himself. Normal weather with a few hot spells and a small crop characterized the 2021 season. This wine was made without any malolactic influence and only light oak which results in a crisp multi layered Chardonnay. Winemaker Alison Doran’s tasting notes: The 2021 Carly’s Cuvee Chardonnay has aromas of orange blossom, ceanothus and vanilla notes. As the wine warms up, honey, lemon and apricot become present. This wine has a strong sense of direction and balance with beautiful pineapple and lemon chiffon flavors. The graceful palate-covering finish makes the next sip inevitable.
