Domaine Guy Allion Les Mazelles Sauvignon 2023, Touraine, Loire Valley, France

Domaine Guy Allion has been in the Allion family for 4 generations, though was only really dedicated to wine production in the late 1960s. Cedric Allion, son of Guy, now runs the estate. This domaine with its beautiful Touraine-style house made out of tufa produces first class Sauvignon from vines grown on perruche (sandy-clay) soil. The vineyards of the Domaine du Haut Perron extend mainly on the hillsides of Cher overlooking the right bank on the communes of Thesee and Monthou sur Cher. Its exposure is ideal: Southwest to Southeast soils favorable to viticulture are characterized by shallow clay-limestone siliceous soils with flint presence known as “parakeets” in the region. The subsoil is essentially limestone. These terroirs often benefit from exposures int he first coasts, they present a marked slope which allows a satisfactory natural drainage, essential to produce wines of high quality in a semi-oceanic climate. This Sauvignon is clean, mineral-laden & Dry.
