Crown Point Estate Selection 2017, Happy Canyon of Santa Barbara, California

2017 vintage: 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Malbec, 10% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc, 5% Petit Verdot. 2017 was a sunny and warm vintage characterized by some heat in early September that increased the speed of ripening and kicked off the harvest for the 2017 vintage. The 2017 Estate Selection comes from the best block and the best clones of the Estate vineyard. Each block is fermented in a small oak or concrete fermenter. After 25 to 30 days of fermentation, each wine was drained into French oak barrels of which 50% were new and 50% once used. The wine was raised in barrels for 26 months. Tasting notes: The 2017 Crown Point Estate is an exciting wine with very fruit-forward notes of Bing cherry, strawberries, incredible floral tones of violets and toasted coffee bean. In the mouth the wine has a beautiful sweetness matched with fine-grained tannins and a velvety texture.
