Adelsheim Pinot Noir 2022, 750ml, Willamette Valley, Oregon

Drawn from several LIVE certified vineyards throughout the northern Willamette Valley, this wine showcases the extraordinary depth and complexity found in our region. Over 72% of this wine is sourced from Adelsheim estate vineyards. 100% Pinot Noir. Fermentation: A diversity of approaches is on display in this complex wine, including both destemmed and whole cluster fermentations, native and inoculated fermentations, and both shorter and extended macerations. Aging: The wine was aged for 9 months in 228L French oak barrels, of which 25% were new. Tasting notes: Juicy with fresh cherry and pomegranate notes, this wine rolls across the palate in a ribbon of freshness. There are compelling cedar and cinnamon bark notes on the nose as well as a hint of crushed lavender, layered in its complexity. The finish is silky and flowing. This wine will be as delicious tonight as it will be years into the future. Winemaker thoughts: “Widely considered a fickle and troublesome variety, Pinot noir is our chosen soul mate. No other red grape can so clearly translate the vintage, the soils, and the way it was handled quite like Pinot noir. In both the vineyard and the winery, we take great care to ensure that its expression remains true to its nature-never forced and always in keeping with what the vineyard has to say. Our approach is intentionally non-recipe-driven. Rather, we prefer to be responsive to vintage and leverage our years of experience, letting intuition and taste guide the way.”
