Bergevin Lane “Wild Child” Merlot 2018, Walla Walla Valley, Washington

Our Walla Walla Valley Estate Merlot is a great example of how great we can grow Merlot in Washington state! Ruby in color with aromas of black cherry, floral, chocolate and vanilla notes on the nose. Medium bodied with crisp acidity and flavors of black cherry, plum, blue fruits, chocolate, tobacco-leaf and vanilla. Finishing with lingering soft grain tannins. Merlot is the child of Cabernet Franc and the rare, Magdeleine Noire des Charentes which makes Merlot a sibling of Cabernet Sauvignon. Our Merlot has 5% Cabernet Franc blended in which adds a slight perfumed fragrance and a little tobacco leaf on the palate. Varietal content: 95% Merlot & 5% Cabernet Franc. Winemaking: Aging: 22 Months 20% New French Oak & 20% New American oak with the balance in neutral oak. Viticulture: Walla Walla Valley AVA, Bergevin Springs Estate Vineyard, 100% Walla Walla Valley.
