Le Clos Gauthey is a Monthélie Premier Cru appellation in the Côte de Beaune sub-region of Burgundy. The 1.80 hectare (4.45 acre) vineyard is located on gentle slopes immediately to the east of the houses of Monthélie village. Vineyard orientaton is complex and varied in this commune with hills on its southern, eastern and westen borders and shallow valleys between them. Bright ruby color. Intense aromas of ripe red berries (cherry) and spices on a hint of vanilla. Well-balanced and well-structured. Complex with a tight texture. Subtle oak note and well-integrated tannins. Long and spicy aftertaste.
