Schug Cabernet Sauvignon 2019, Sonoma Valley, California

2019 vintage – 79% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Petit Verdot, 5% Malbec, 4% Cabernet Franc, 3% Merlot. 100% Sonoma Valley, blended in the classic Bordeaux style. Fermented up to 16 days in stainless steel tanks, pumped over up to 3 times a day. A small portion was fermented in new French oak barrels with heads being removed and punched down up to 3 times daily. Aged 24 months in 20% new French oak barrels. This supple and generous Cabernet Sauvignon blend is crafted in the classic Bordeaux style that Walter Schug pioneered in the 1970’s as winemaster of Joseph Phelps Vineyards. A ripe mouthful of dark cherry and plum fl avors is framed by fi ne tannins and a touch of spicy oak. It has a classic bouquet bursting with black fruits, blueberry and hints of chocolate. Merlot, Malbec, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot are blended in to add depth and elegance, further enhancing the rich berry avors and lively acidity.
