Peirano Estate Vineyards “The Other” Red 2021, Lodi, California

2021 vintage – This – 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, That – 30% Merlot and The Other 10% Syrah, estate grown fruit in the heart of the Lodi Appellation. The folks at Peirano make sure the vines struggle just a bit, through techniques like deficit irrigation, to help concentrate the fruit flavors. Crop thinning, leaf pulling and vineyard management also insure full and proper ripening. They hand harvest into small bins to keep the fruit intact for its trip to the winery. Each varietal is kept separate throughout the entire fermentation and aging process, so each grape can fully express its true character. Several blends are made and sampled, until they have found one that is greater than the sum of its parts. “Swirl this magnificent beauty around the glass and right away you’ll notice the mesmerizing maroon color.
