Turley Zinfandel Dusi Vineyard 2019, Paso Robles, California

Turley is the name when it comes to blockbuster Zinfandels. These are California’s richest, most powerful, and most exotic Zinfandels, taken from forgotten old-vine holdings throughout central and northern California (and now even down to Baja California!) These wines often have head-spinning alcohol and a bit of residual sugar, but at their core, they are really showcases for the rich, ripe old-vine fruit. Dusi Vineyard is located in west Templeton, California, in the Paso Robles AVA. Implemented long ago, the farming practices of head pruned vines and no irrigation, dry farming in calcareous soils, continues to this day. Winemakers Notes – “These head trained vines prove what a dynamic spot for Zinfandel Paso Robles can be. Where the Pesenti and Ueberroth wines are occasionally angular, the Dusi’s edges are well rounded. Darker and somewhat more powerful, yet with one of the softest textures on the mid-palette out of any of our wines. As usual, the Dusi shows very well even shortly after bottling; a great “gateway” wine if you are introducing Zinfandel to a neophyte, or re-introducing it to a naysayer!”
