Turley is the name when it comes to blockbuster Zinfandels. These are California’s richest, most powerful and most exotic Zinfandels, taken from forgotten old-vine holdings throughout central and northern California (and now even down to Baja California!) These wines often have head-spinning alcohol and a bit of residual sugar, but at their core, they are really showcases for the rich, ripe old-vine fruit. This wine is homage to Joe Duarte, a prominent grape grower in Contra Costa who first introduced Turley to the incredible vineyards of the area. The wine is comprised of fruit from the Evanghelo, Mori, and Salvador vineyards, all in Contra Costa. The soil here is primarily sand, and as a result the wines have some of the softest, silkiest tannins ever seen in a Zinfandel.
