St. Innocent Pinot Noir 2015, 375ml, Zenith Vineyard, Eola-Amity Hills, Willamette Valley, Oregon

“Zenith is our Estate vineyard and located 9 miles NW of Salem, Oregon. The grapes for this wine come from various blocks, most of them face SE and warm early in the morning. One faces SW and is warmer in the afternoon. Four different clones of Pinot noir are planted: Pommard, Wadenswil, 115, and 777. The de-stemmed grapes were fermented in small stainless and Burgundy oak fermenters with no SO2, allowing the fermentations to proceed naturally. After gentle pressing and settling, the wine aged in French oak barrels, 21% of which were new, for 16 months before bottling by gravity and without fining.” – from the Winery Strikingly rich, sweet black cherry/red berry aromas dominate the 2014 Pinot Noir Shea Vineyard’s nose. Red rose, violet and chocolate covered cherries layer in, creating a pool of loveliness. This carries through to the mouth with loads of sweet berry, cherry, floral and sweet spice flavors. Swallowing does little to reduce the riot of flavors; rather, it reveals the dimensions of dried floral, wild berry, nutmeg, cinnamon and sweet herbal notes that lie await after the generous first impressions fades. Ripe sweet tannins balanced by fresh acidity create a backbone of structure for this abundant wine to age up to 15 years. – Winemaker Notes
