Spy Valley Sauvignon Blanc 2018, 375ml, Marlborough, New Zealand

Spy Valley Wines is situated on the sunny southern side of Marlborough’s Wairau Valley, nestled on the terraces of the Omaka River are the vineyards of Johnson Estate. The brand name Spy Valley® is derived from the presence of a satellite communications monitoring station (spy base) nearby, part of the Echelon Global Network. Sauvignon Blanc is grown in this Marlborough vineyard on stony riverbed terraces. The grapes are gently pressed and fermented in stainless steel tanks to give intense passionfruit and gooseberry fruit characters. A small portion is fermented in barrels before blending and bottling. The wine is fruit-driven in style, with complexity from lees ageing for several months in stainless steel tanks before bottling. This wine is a classic Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc with intense flavors and crisp acid in a dry style. “White peach, melon and mango with a zesty sweet pea and citrus edge. The silken texture flows through a rich mid palate and clean finish. Predominantly ripe tropical fruit flavors with subtle mineral and savory influences.” – From the Winery
