Four brothers and a love for wine which began in their father’s vineyards in San Zeno di Colognola ai Colli in the Valpolicella district which produces the most famous wines in the Verona area: Amarone, Valpolicella and Soave. In 1989 they purchased 30 hectares of land around Mezzane which, when added to their father’s property, brought the Tenuta Sant’Antonio vineyards to its current total of 50 hectares. The property is located 120 metres above sea level and climbs gently to 320 metres. The microclimate is ideal and benefits from the favorable conditions of Lake Garda. The soil is compact and predominantly calcareous and yields exceptional wines. This wine is 70% Corvina, 20% Rondinella, 5% Croatina and 5% Osteleta. Age of vines: 20-25 years. Vinification in steel at a controlled temperature. Harvesting: double sorting by hand and laying out on wooden trays. Pressing: gently with pneumatic press. Fermentation: at a controlled temperature with selected yeasts for 25 days in steel. Malolactic fermentation: Natural in 500-litre barrels. Batonnage: once a month for the first year. Aged 2 years in new French oak 500-litre tonneaux.
