The Chianti Classico area, comprising 7000 hectares of vineyards between Florence and Siena, is one of the most renowned rural territories in the world. The boundaries of the wine production area were defined as long ago as 1716, under an edict issued by Cosimo III de Medici. What makes it unique is the rare beauty of the landscape, high-quality agriculture and outstanding artistic heritage. Already in the late 1970s, in the Poggio Rosso area, a series of selected clones of Sangiovese were planted. Poggio Rosso is the fruit of a rigorous selection of this grape variety from some parcels of the same single-Vineyard and it represents today the pinnacle of San Felices terroir. A wine of immense depth and superbe elegance, produced in limited quantity and axclusively in outstanding vintages, that maturesfor some 20 months in 500 -litre tonneaux and a further 12 months in the bottle.
