Reynolds Family Cabernet Stags Leap District Reserve 2018, Napa Valley, California

Reynolds Family Winery is a family business. Reynolds’ wines are driven by superior vineyard location, fanatical vineyard management, minimalist winemaking and a penchant for learning from experience. The team believes in harvesting at the peak of ripeness to create wines that are intensely flavored, luscious and approachable on release. While the winery isn’t as big or as famous as some of the wineries down the road, that suits the team just fine. Since inception, Reynolds Family Winery has taken the mustard flower as their emblem. Mustard grows wild in Napa Valley, so it is easy to take for granted. But for the Reynolds family, it is more than a plant – it is a symbol of faith and a metaphor for the value of hard work. With one of the more creatively designed and intriguing labels in Napa Valley, Reynolds’ Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon bottles feature a hand-pressed imprint of a mustard flower bloom. Even more remarkably, every label features a unique mustard flower. 2018 vintage: 95% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Merlot from the Stags Leap District in Napa Valley. Fermentation: 35% Barrel, 20% Open-top Hand stirred Bin Fermented and 45% Classic Tank Fermented. Cooperage: Aged 24 months in 40% New French Oak, 20% Cryo-Cleaned with inserts & 40% Neutral French Oak w/60days of skin contact, Tank for 30 days of skin contact. This wine starts with beautiful aromatics of mocha and toasted marshmallows. The palate offers an abundance of blackberry and plum with multiple layers of luscious cherry, all enveloped in a silky texture that truly represents the Stags Leap District. This wine has a superior lasting finish that can be enjoyed now or for years to come.
