Paul Hobbs fell in love with Argentina on his first visit in 1988. The potential he saw in the terroir and especially in the human element, spurred his consulting career. Paul Hobbs Selections was founded in 1994 to bring to the US some of the wines he had a hand in creating. Vineyard location: “La Zulema” vineyard in Agrela, Lujan de Cuyo. 100% Cabernet Sauvignon. Vines planted in 1992. Vinification: Manual harvest and selection of grapes in the winery. 12 – 24 hours of maceration. Alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel tanks and concrete pools. Spontaneous malolactic fermentation on concrete pools, oak aging for 6 months in second use barrels. Tasting notes: Excellent ruby color, typical of Cabernet Sauvignon. Spicy aromas with jam notes that show its complexity, with hints of tobacco from the aging in oak. Round on the palate with soft tannins.
