Powers Syrah 2018, Columbia Valley, Washington

Second generation winemaker Greg Powers has a deep affinity for the Columbia Valley and its viticulture. He grew up in the region’s spectacular farm country and helped his father Bill plant and manage Badger Mountain Vineyard. Powers wines are creatively blended and crafted to showcase Washington State’s distinctive vineyards and robust and diverse microclimates. 2018 vintage – 96% Syrah, 4% Viognier. Winemaker’s notes: “The components that make up the 2018 vintage of Syrah were harvested from early to mid September, which gave us a great range of brix and acid with which to work. All components were co-fermented in our stainless upright fermenters with PDM yeast used on all lots. We then aged the wine for 26 months in 30% new Puncheons, 40% in 3rd use with the final 30% in neutral 59-gallon French Oak barrels.”
