Ellen Lane Estate is a hidden site that was discovered near Forestville in the Green Valley area, within the Russian River Valley appellation. It is prized for growing complex chardonnay. The site’s unique topography creates 2-30 degree slopes that resembles an amphitheater and generates a distinct microclimate where cool air can be retained during the warmer months. Aromas of lychee and white peach lead to a racy palate of nectarine and lemon zest, finishing with energizing acidity. The grapes are hand-harvested, picked at night. whole cluster pressed while still cold from the field. Barrel-fermented with indigenous yeasts; 5 months to completion. spontaneous malolactic fermentation in barrels. Aged 15 months in French oak barrels, 39% new. Aged sur lies with biweekly bâttonage. Unfined and unfiltered.
