2015 vintage – 90% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon from Paradigm’s estate vineyards located in the Oakville appellation of Napa Valley. “Our Merlot is well suited to the Oakville district of Napa Valley. This 2015 is a deep ruby color with aromas of red and black plums, cherry, dried herbs, and light toasty oak. Flavors match the aromas. A mouth-filling, seamless silky wine across the palate. Clean yet layered with light dusty tannins. Wonderful mid-palate texture with good length. Somewhat more concentration, typical of the 2015 vintage. Should age well for 10-15 years or more.” – Heidi Peterson Barrett, Winemaker. The vineyard’s soil and microclimate are perfectly tuned for growing the red Bordeaux varietals. The vineyard is currently planted to 7 blocks of Cabernet Sauvignon totaling 37 acres, 3 blocks of Merlot totaling 12 acres, 4 acres of Cabernet Franc, 1 acre of Zinfandel and 1 acre of Petite Verdot. The Paradigm style has been very well established. The wines are consistent and ageworthy. Approachable in their youth, Paradigm wines are full of red and black fruit. They are known for their balance and for their ability to compliment a meal. All of the wines are aged in French oak barrels for 20 months. Each of the wines also sees considerable additional bottle aging – 10-14 months for Merlot. (par’ – a – dime) noun. An example that serves as a pattern or model. A pattern for perfection.
