The Finch Hollow Chardonnay is made up of grapes from a very special vineyard called “Finch Hollow”, located in the Vaca Mountains of Napa, about 1,000 feet above the valley floor, 4 miles east of the city of Napa.. For several years after their planting, all vineyards were open to flocks of Finches and Blackbirds that feasted on the grapes. The vineyard is now netted. The distinct terroir contributes an intense tropical fruit character. The vines grow in shallow soil on a gentle hillside. This Chardonnay is barrel fermented in new French oak for 10 months and sur-lie aged with weekly stirring. Delicate but mouthwatering aromas lead to mouth filling melon and apple flavors – an elegant wine.
