Jadot Puligny Montrachet Les Folatieres 2020

Puligny-Montrachet, situated to the south of Meursault and to the north of Chassagne-Montrachet, shares with Chassagne a handful of the greatest white wine vineyards in the world. The premier cru vineyards of Puligny-Montrachet, noted for the exceptionally high and consistent quality of the wines they produce, stretch across the upper half of Puligny’s slope from Meursault to Chassagne. This progression is accompanied by an increasing depth and firmness in wines, culminating with the four grand cru vineyards along the Chassagne border. The Folati?res climat lies near the summit of this slope, above Clos de la Garenne roughly midway between Meursault and Montrachet. Folati?res is the most recent premiers crus: prior to its elevation to premier cru in 1959, it was covered by an underbrush inhabited principally by rabbits. This phenomenon is likely responsible for the vineyard’s name, derived from “fol?trer”, meaning “to frolic.”
