Iron Horse Wedding Cuvée Sparkling Wine 2016, Green Valley of Russian River Valley, Sonoma County, California

This is Iron Horse’s Blanc de Noirs, made from predominantly Pinot Noir. It has a beautiful rosé color. Rich and creamy, like pure strawberries and cream, this is without doubt the most romantic of their Sparklings. 2016 vintage – 71% Pinot Noir, 29% Chardonnay. Aged 3+ years. From the Winery – “In blending this wine, we choose Pinot Noir lots that are extremely expressive and fruit forward. Then we blend in a bit of steely Chardonnay to add a firm acid backbone. Hand-harvested in the chill of early morning, our Pinot Noir is gently pressed as whole clusters. The juice slowly ferments in stainless steel tanks at 62 degrees to 65 degrees F retaining bright fruit aromas and flavors in the wine.” Appellation: Green Valley of Russian River Valley, which represents the very best soil, climate and aspects for Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. By nose: raspberry, mandarin orange peel and nutmeg. In the mouth stone fruit, pink grapefruit , Tahitian lime, blood orange, raspberry with a gentle mouthfeel.
