Gilgal Riesling, Golan Heights Winery 2014 Galilee, Israel

In the Golan Heights lies Gilgal Refaim, a 5,000 year old site unlike any other. 42,000 basalt rocks are arranged in concentric circles, their purpose shrouded in mystery. Gilgal brings the spirit of this enigma to life, with wine grown in this ancient earth. Although Riesling is identified with the river regions of Austria and Germany, careful management of the more northerly grape, Riesling, yields a wine with rich texture and almost dry finish.
