Nero Missto (mixed black) is reminiscent of the old California-Italian field blends. This wine is a blend of a unique selection of wonderful lesser known black grapes. Aged 10 1/2 months in once used French & American oak, 30% new. Nero Misto is Italian for ‘mixed black’. Picking the grapes at the right time is crucial – acid and sugar levels of the fruit must find harmony so that the finished wine achieves similar balance. The grapes are picked early in the morning at the peak of ripeness, and arrive at the winery while still cold and glistening with dew. Gentle winemaking captures intense fruit flavors. The 2017 Nero Misto is deep and dark in color with aromas of black berries, white pepper, violets, and a hint of forest floor, this homage to the Cal-Ital blends of early Napa is an intense and focused wine. On the palate, it offers broad mouthfeel with mixed dark fruits and an amazing balance of fruit, tannin, and acidity.tannin, and acidity.
