The Zafeirakis family has been engaged in viticulture in the Tyrnavos area for more than 100 years. Christos Zafeirakis is the fourth generation to practice this long-standing tradition of the family and is considered to be one of the key advocates of finesse in Greek winemaking. One of Christos’ main goals was to reestablish the nearly extinct grape variety, Limniona as well as elevate the quality of the indigenous grape, Malagousia. The siganature “Microcosmos Malagousia” is all from the Paleomylos Vineyard which is composed of sandy-clay soils with a high flint content. The vines average 20 years of age and the grapes are fermented in stainless steel tank all with native yeasts. The flinty soils help lend minerality to this vibrant and lightly floral white. Christos Zafeirakis’ unoaked white is floral, musky and enticing, with passion fruit, citrus and clementine flavors and stony, refreshing acidity.
