Domaine Usseglio is a family farm, dating back to 1948 when grandfather, Francis Usseglio, left Italy to work in Ch?teauneuf-du-Pape as a wine worker. Today the Domaine covers 39 hectares, 24 hectares of red Ch?teauneuf-du-Pape, 1 hectare of white Ch?teauneuf-du-Pape, 6 hectares of red Lirac, 6 hectares of C?tes-du-Rh?ne and 2 hectares of Vin de France. Half of the vines are over 65 years old, the other half is in their forties. Yields: low. Harvest: Manual. Sorting: Selective. This wine is 40% Grenache, 20% Syrah, 20% Mourvedre, 15% Marselan, 5% Merlot. Soil type: Sandy, loamy and stony. Winemaking: Maceration 25 days in thermo-regulated concrete tanks. Scratched entirely. Aged 6 months in concrete vats, bottling in spring. Tasting: The nose reveals notes of garrigue and black cherries. The palate is intense with soft tannins. This wine is concentrated and charming.
