The Besson estate is a family estate located in Burgundy, in Givry in the Côte Chalonnaise. Owned by the Besson family since the 1930s, it has been run by Guillemette and Xavier Besson since 1989. Originally, the estate consisted of vines that surround the mansion on the cadastral site Le Petit-Prétan, classified in AOC Givry-village and Givry 1er cru. A strong desire to develop the heritage has enabled the acquisition of several plots over the years, particularly in white. The desire to enhance the personality of each terroir, including the Givry-village appellation, has resulted in a palette of eight vintages today. The Givry rouge Haut-Colombier comes mainly from a single piece plot of 2.2 ha on the place called Le Petit Prétan, just in front of the house. The vines are 30 years old on average. Located at the bottom of the hill, the soil is deep but stony. The wine still offers a nice fleshy fruity, structured by velvety tannins.
