In 1838 Henry Delaroze established a vineyard on one of the most ancient gravel beds of the Medoc. In 1986 Assurances Generales de France purchased the Estate, one of the largest of the Medoc by its surface area and total production; a well renowned property recognized the world over as a top quality Cru Bourgeois. 190 hectares of vineyards. Soil: Fine gravels, sandy gravels and clayish limestone soil. Average age of vines: 28 years old. 2018 final blend – 44% Cabernet Sauvignon, 47% Merlot, 9% Petit Verdot. Classic 3 week initial fermentation. Aged in oak barrels for 12-14 months. Dark ruby color, concentrated. A scent of small red fruits (wild strawberry, currants), flowers (violet) with a slight spicy hint of nutmeg. The attack in the mouth is fresh, round with volume. Its texture is seductive. The structure is of a very beautiful elegance around very fine and refined tannins. Very silky finish while keeping a beautiful energy.
